About us

The group

All Blue World is the first startup studio of publishing and the cultural industries. We design, fund and grow publishing houses, brands, cultural products and the startups reinventing these sectors, drawing on forty years of experience in literature, bookselling, the press and innovation.

Where we come from

Culture in
motion

  • Publishing
  • Distribution
  • Media
  • Exploitation rights

Publishing begins with passing something on. Choosing a text, supporting it, getting it read: the job consists of putting knowledge, stories and experience into circulation, and connecting those who write with those who read.

The model and the technology serve two purposes: more authors published, better defended, books that find their readers, and innovations that move publishing and bookselling forward. The companies we support are not tools serving the list: their success is a goal in itself.

Before All Blue World there was French Bookstore. Gille Amont founded that network in the United States in 2014 and grew it to one hundred and twenty-seven French-language bookshops, before selling it.

A language lives as much from being written as from being read. French is written in Dakar, Montreal, Beirut, Port-au-Prince, Brussels and Algiers, and each of those cities adds a vocabulary, a syntax, turns of phrase that belong to it alone. It is read on the shelves where a bookseller knows which title to hand to whom, and in the families who keep it far from the country where they learned it.

The group, a project begun in 2016 and a company created in 2021, widened that perimeter. The lists opened to English, the activities run from publishing to distribution, media and exploitation rights. French keeps a place there that we claim, with francophone writers from all over the world.

The group grew out of one observation: the means that let a book exist fully, production, bookshops, media, rights, are scattered across players who never talk to each other. We brought them under one roof and put them at the service of every title.

Every project starts as a startup, with its own team, targets and business model, then joins the group network to gain immediate access to a catalogue, bookshops and distribution channels. That is how an idea becomes a book, a series, a store or an animated show without starting from scratch at every stage.

Innovation runs through all four divisions, technological as much as conceptual: in-house management tools, connected bookshops, augmented reality, new reading and subscription formats, editorial forms that did not exist before us. One conviction guides us: never underestimate the power of books.

Our vision

Becoming the first independent international publisher.

  1. Independent, and large enough Standing up to the big groups while keeping editorial decisions inside the house. It is the only way to hold a demanding list over time.
  2. A book that travels Three countries of operation, and a reach that goes further. An author published here should be able to be translated, distributed and adapted without changing house.
  3. Quality as a condition First novel or art book, every title receives the same editorial work, the same art direction and the same search for innovation.

Leadership

Gille Amont

Founder and CEO

A bookseller since his teens, a builder of independent networks, a publisher: Gille Amont has spent forty years connecting trades the industry keeps apart.

He first worked in a bookshop at fifteen, over the summers, and never left. He went on to open his first bookshop and would run three of his own in Lyon for thirty years, among them the Air bookshop, which he co-managed from 1997. That is where he learned what no market study teaches: how a book finds its reader, or fails to, and what a bookseller’s work means in that encounter.

In 2010 he founded and chaired Culture & Réseau and the economic interest group ZeCulture, which brought together professionals and independents in the cultural sector. More than a hundred booksellers and record dealers joined the network, with a shared loyalty card launched in 2015. The idea was already the one that governs All Blue World: independent structures gain from pooling their resources without giving up any of their autonomy.

In 2014 he founded and headed French Bookstore in the United States, where he opened a network of one hundred and twenty-seven bookshops and championed French-language books in North America. This attention to innovative projects has led him to sit, since 2016, on the board of directors of EDN, Entrepreneurship & Diversity Network, a non-profit incubator that puts entrepreneurs on the road to success.

All Blue World was born in 2021 from a synthesis of these experiences. The group was not meant to be one more publishing house: it had to be able to carry a book from manuscript to screen, through bookshops, the media and foreign rights, and to bring innovation into trades that have long kept it at a distance. He runs all its activities from New York, chairs the publishing and distribution companies, and settles catalogue decisions with the reading committees. He personally reads the manuscripts the committee passes on to him.
